Queen Latifah Throws Cold Water on Lesbian Wedding Rumor

Recent reports that Queen Latifah had proposed to her longtime personal trainer Jeanette

were squashed by the Queen while she was in Chicago recently to promote her upcoming film The Perfect Holiday.

Said Latifah to the Sun-Times: “When you’re famous these days, it’s just part of the deal — unfortunately. People will make up all sorts of things that are not true…There ain’t gonna be no wedding.”

The lesbians go to the sex shop: vibrators ahoy!

Looking for a bonding and cheerful event for us this weekend Linda called ahead and found that a local adult toy and sex aid shop was wheelchair accessible on “one floor.” So off we go! Turns out, “one floor” actually meant the 20 feet around the entrance before the stairs into the sunken shop. Well, so much for subtle browsing. The girl there (let’s call her Ana) was pretty cool so within about 15 minutes we had enough sex toys opened up on the counter to drive the two guys shopping there to the complete other end of the building. We were looking for something functional, a toy that could handle solo and partner work and made by a decent company. The problem was the boxes most vibrators were in made it very hard to take the toy seriously. We looked at about five different butterfly vibes only it was hard to focus on the vibrators because the boxes and names were SO trashy. While I liked the high intensity vibration of the clit stimulator butterfly antenna, did I really want to buy a product called “The Hustler” (pictured) or worse, look like one of the big breasted, I-am-totally-a-porn-star women who was spread (literally) across every other butterfly vibe front cover. Was any pleasure worth the bizarre and perhaps male-fantasy induced look on her face (and long dewy lashes)? I asked Ana there if these particular boxes included a booklet for starting your internet porn business. I don’t know about you, but I don’t shave every single body hair, put on full face and body make-up then get my hair blow dried to country music size just to use my vibrator. She totally agreed on the, um, depiction of women chosen to sell the product (hey company, aren’t you selling this to WOMEN? Where are the natural women using said product?) and talked about some chin strap dildo they had gotten in with a ludicrous name like “Master Penetrator” and how it had to use a styrofoam head for the picture because they couldn’t some big hair/big make-up blondie to manage to make this…um…product look sexy.Read more: http://elizabethmcclung.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Pride Weekend

We went to not only the Parade, but the Festival, and the God-des and She show the night before. And had houseguests. And installed most of the Marm0leum. It was quite a weekend. And much fun.

On returning from Pride I had that confusing feeling where after being around queers all weekend I started thinking everyone I saw was gay and had to reorient myself. Odd feeling it is, to come back to the real world. One that is not so friendly, not so vibrant and colorful, but still a very good world. But because I feel so much free-er in Portland, Pride can only be so exciting. Not like in NC, where Pride was our one chance all year to hold hands in public. I think if mwt and I were not so out of the habit we could hold hands in many places in Portland. But how sad is that, that holding hands is something we worry about? Ah, the world has a long way to go on this.

But what is pride weekend without a partially finished project? The Marm0luem was much harder (physically and mathematically) to install than we thought and it was a bit much to undertake on Pride weekend. So I am exhausted. And sore from all the flooring. And the dog has been neglected and discovered a way to escape the yard on Sunday and went missing and mwt and I freaked out. Then he came back, but we could not figure out where he had been or how he got out.

So this morning, in my exhaustion I let Bentley out in the back-yard and starting working on a computer problem and then realized what I done. So I run outside in my bathrobe, my crazy morning hair, and mwt’s bedroom slippers and start calling for him. And I think I hear my neighbor. So I go around front and there is my very nice neighbor holding my very bad dog.

Then he releases Bentley’s collar and instead of coming to me he runs across the street and jumps on a little boy walking with his Dad. And I have to run after him in my bathrobe and slippers. All I was missing was curlers in my hair.

Now I feel like the trashiest person ever. Bad enough that we were outside running the table saw on flooring all weekend, and had people in and out of our house at all hours, now we have a half-dressed crazy woman running down the street after her uncontrollable dog. We are “those people.”
